About Me

I’m 35, single with identical twin daughters and live in Minneapolis, MN.  I’ve been cooking since I was little.  Back then, I’d make cookies on the weekends and pretend I was hosting my own cooking show.  I loved watching The Frugal Gourmet and Julia Child.  Because my parents both worked, pulling together the evening meal often fell to me.  My mom had this yellow recipe box filled with recipe cards.  My favorite was Hamburger Stroganoff.  I really didn’t start expanding my cooking repertoire until I started travelling more for work.  The more I ate, the more I wanted to cook.   To finance all of this, I got a second job at a gourmet cooking store.  The discount definitely helped!  I also assisted cooking classes which helped hone my techniques.  Now I cook for friends and family, occasionally doing big, fancy dinner parties. 

 I’ve contemplated going to culinary school, but there are way too many foods I won’t eat, so I don’t think that’s the route for me.  A friend and I have also contemplated opening a catering business, but there are obstacles there as well.  And so I blog, and try to push my cooking boundaries.
